But have been doing some research on the `Anjali’ factor, and I was spot on about the SRK film dialogue. Am not much of a Hindi movie buff, but this is from a movie called `Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. The story line goes…
Rahul Khanna (Shahrukh Khan) and the tomboy Anjali Sharma (Kajol) are students at St. Xavier’s College. They are best friends. One day Tina Malhotra (Rani Mukerji), the principal’s daughter, enrolls at St. Xavier’s. She comes from London, and she is beautiful, feminine, and sophisticated; she is the antithesis of Anjali. Rahul falls hard for Tina as soon as he meets her and actively pursues her, BLAH BLAH…
A recurring dialogue in the movie conveys the basic sense thatYOU WILL NEVER REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT I FEEL!
When he asks her why she is behaving in a particular manner, she replies “Tum nahi samjhoge, Rahul!“
And when she asks HIM, his response is “Anjali, tum nahi samjhogi!”
So the Anjali he is referring to is a fictional character, and what he is trying to convey is WHY DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I FEEL???
So, THERE - it was quite harmless after all, and nothing to get perturbed about..
